• 1 yard of knit fabric

• ½–¾ yard (depending on size of child) of ½”-wide knit elastic

• Coordinating thread

• Rotary cutter, straightedge ruler, and self-healing mat; or dressmaking shears

• Flexible tape measure for determining your child’s size

CUT

Cut 2 waistbands and 2 inner skirts, as shown in figure 1. Cut 2 outer skirt panels using the chart below (maximum stretch of fabric running across the width). Make sure you use a knit fabric with plenty of body for the skirt. Thin or slinky knits will not give it that “bubble” effect.
